Message from the President

Shizuoka Graduate University of Public Health opened its doors in April 2021 after roughly five years of preparation, welcoming 19 fresh faces as its first generation of students.
Our university, which consists of a single graduate school with no undergraduate departments, is characterized by its extremely innovative and advanced approaches to the field of medicine. Our mission is to promote practical medical research using methods employed in the field of public health, and to return the results to society by welcoming working people with practical experience in various areas of medicine as graduate students.
The first batch of students came to our university, taking precious time out of their busy schedules, in the hope of solving a variety problems and to answer questions for themselves by studying a new academic system and breaking through the sense of stagnation facing the world of medicine.
The students, some of whom already possess doctoral degrees, are highly motivated and positive in their desire to learn practical science directly related to clinical research, a noble quality that we at the university have already come to appreciate firsthand.
In fact, we feel that the response of these students to our program is completely different from what we have experienced with conventional undergraduate programs. This is because, as graduate students, they have already acquired a strong sense of humanity and have built a resolute will toward the pursuit of medicine.
Of course, given that we have just begun, there is still an aspect of trial and error in the structure and direction of our courses. However, we will continue to respect our graduate students as members of society, engaging in sincere discussions with them on an equal footing, and accompanying them in their passionate desire to work for the greater good of medical care in Japan, thereby helping them fulfill their dream of changing medicine with their own hands.
We invite you to consider earning your MPH here with us, which will allow you to acquire knowledge of practical public health research tools that you can put to use in your own respective medical fields.
